WebMentor Player™

Offline Course Delivery on CD-ROM

WebMentor Player allows course providers to distribute courses on CD-ROM. This means that students with poor access to a network, or no access at all, can take the same courses as students on an intranet or the Internet.

If you need to record a student's progress and performance in the offline course, WebMentor Player also provides records management features that synchronize the offline course database with a WebMentor LMS server when a network connection is established. The Player currently synchronizes files using email. Support for Web and direct database-to-database synchronization are planned for future releases.

WebMentor Player is also useful for delivering courses that make substantial use of high-bandwidth multimedia content. Such courses may be more practical to run either partially or entirely from CD-ROM, when bandwidth limitations make it impractical to do so from the Internet. For example, a course provider may create a hybrid course that draws large multimedia files from the CD and the rest of the course components from a WebMentor LMS server.
